FAQs
What’s So Special About Nicotinamide Riboside?
We use NAD every day for basic functions like sleeping, breathing, eating, and drinking. But our NAD levels decline with age and metabolic stress which contributes to changes in health.
Tru Niagen® increases your NAD, every time you take it.*
What Is Tru Niagen®?
One capsule of Tru Niagen® contains 300mg of NIAGEN®, a patented and FDA safety-notified form of vitamin B3 known as nicotinamide riboside (NR). Our inactive ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose and hypromellose. Microcrystalline cellulose is a plant-derived fiber and hypromellose is a common ingredient used to make vegetarian capsules. Tru Niagen® is formulated without nuts or gluten. It contains no caffeine, no animal byproducts, and no artificial colors or flavors.
What Should I Expect To Feel?*
As with any supplement or new health routine, your experiences will vary depending on your age, diet, exercise, and sleep habits. Tru Niagen® will start increasing NAD levels shortly after you take it and will continue to maintain those elevated NAD levels with regular supplementation. It may take some time to feel the benefits of increased NAD (promoting cellular repair, increasing cellular energy, etc.), but ultimately Tru Niagen® is helping your cells remain energized and resilient in the face of everyday stresses.*
What Is The Recommended Serving Size?
We recommend taking one capsule (300mg) of Tru Niagen® at the same time every day. You can take it in the morning or at night, with or without food.
Is Tru Niagen® Safe?
Yes, Tru Niagen® is safe when used as directed. Its sole active ingredient Niagen® has been studied in multiple published human clinical trials and no adverse events have been attributed to its use. Niagen® has twice been successfully reviewed under FDA's new dietary ingredient (NDI) notification program and has also been successfully notified to the FDA as generally recognized as safe (GRAS).
Is Tru Niagen® Natural?
The active ingredient in Tru Niagen® is a nature-identical, synthesized form of a unique vitamin B3 known as nicotinamide riboside (NR). It is identical structurally and functionally to naturally-occurring NR found in trace amounts in milk.
Are There Any Dietary Restrictions?
Tru Niagen® is formulated without nuts or gluten. It contains no caffeine, no animal byproducts, and no artificial colors or flavors.
Are There Any Negative Side Effects?
No adverse effects have been attributed to our product during published clinical trials. As with any form of supplementation, if you experience any prolonged discomfort or side effects, discontinue use and consult your healthcare provider.
Can I Take Tru Niagen® With Alcohol?
There is no evidence to suggest that Tru Niagen® should not be taken with alcohol.
Can I Take Tru Niagen® With Multivitamins?
Yes, it is safe to take Tru Niagen® while taking a standard multivitamin that provides the daily recommended amounts of vitamins, including those with vitamin B3. Tru Niagen® contains nicotinamide riboside, which is not the same as the vitamin B3 sources found in multivitamin products. Tru Niagen® is absorbed by cells and efficiently converted to NAD using a unique pathway different from vitamin B3 (niacin, nicotinamide) found in vitamin supplements. Tru Niagen® has been studied in clinical trials and proven safe and effective for increasing NAD.*
Multivitamins are designed to provide the daily recommended values for essential vitamins and minerals and are appropriately balanced so they don’t contain high doses of any one vitamin or mineral. Always check the label and consult your healthcare professional with any questions.
Can I Take Tru Niagen® With NSAIDS?
Tru Niagen® has no known negative interactions with NSAIDs. If you have any questions or concerns, we recommend consulting your healthcare practitioner prior to beginning use.
Can I Take Tru Niagen® While Breastfeeding?
We do not yet have any human research evaluating the safety of Tru Niagen® supplementation while breastfeeding and recommend consulting with your doctor prior to use. Our key ingredient, however, is a nature-identical form of a unique vitamin B3 naturally found in trace amounts in cow's milk and human breast milk.
Is There A Recommended Amount To Not Exceed Per Day?
We recommend not to exceed our daily serving size of 300mg per day. Clinical studies show that there’s a 40 to 50% increase in NAD in eight weeks at this serving size. And, 300mg is the daily serving included in our dietary ingredient notification to the US FDA. So, we think that 300mg per day is a safe, efficacious amount to benefit from a boost in NAD levels. If you’re thinking about taking more than our 300mg/day serving size, be sure to speak with your doctor.
